Michael M. Sieving, Esq.

Michael Sieving has over thirty years of experience in dealing with all aspects of automotive franchise law. From 1984 to 2000, he served as an Administrative Law Judge and the Assistant Executive Secretary of the California New Motor Vehicle Board, and presided over hundreds of contested hearings and settlement conferences involving franchise disputes between new motor vehicle dealers and their franchisors.  Since 2000, Michael has represented scores of dealers in litigation against factories and finance companies in disputes before the New Motor Vehicle Board, in arbitration, and in jury and bench trials in State and Federal Courts.

Michael’s current practice focuses exclusively on motor vehicle franchise law and disputes which arise in the automotive industry, representing new and used automobile, motorcycle, recreational vehicle, and marine dealers. These disputes traditionally involve the proposed termination or modification of the franchise, the establishment or relocation of same line-make dealers in proximity to existing dealers, warranty disputes between the dealers and factories, and issues related to the sale or transfer of the stock or assets of a dealership corporation. Michael has negotiated and/or drafted the documents necessary to consummate a “buy-sell” of a dealership on many occasions for both buyers and sellers, and works with the dealers until the close of the transaction. He also negotiates with the factories regarding franchisor consent issues to resolve any such disputes.
